DIY Vega Base Green Smoothie

The beauty of smoothies is that you can use any ingredients you have in your fridge, or that you’re currently in the mood for. Having a well-stocked inventory of liquid, greens, fruit, and good fats will allow you to customize and choose today’s smoothie adventure. Use this Vega Base Green Smoothie recipe as your base and continue to experiment!

Green Smoothie Components

1. Protein Powder

  • 1 Serving Vega® Protein Product (Such as Vega One™, Vega® Essentials, Vega® Protein & Greens, Vega® Clean* Protein or Vega Sport® Protein)

2. Liquid (1 ½ cups). Pick 1:

  • Non-dairy milk (coconut, almond, etc.)
  • Orange juice
  • Water
  • Coconut Water

3. Greens (1 to 2 big handfuls) Pick 1 to 2:

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Beet greens
  • Chard
  • Romaine
  • Dandelion greens

4. Fruit (1 to 2 cups): Pick 2 to 3:

  • ½ to 1 banana
  • Berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries)
  • Mango
  • Pineapple
  • ½ apple or pear

Note: *If using fresh fruit, add ½ cup ice

5. Good Fats. Pick 1 to 2:

  • 1 Tbsp nut butter (peanut, almond, etc.)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • ¼ avocado

6. Additions (as desired):

  • ¼ cucumber
  • ¼ celery stalk
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • 1/2 inch fresh turmeric
  • Cinnamon

 

Ingredients

  • 1 serving Vega One™ Nutritional Shake
  • 1 cup liquid base
  • 1-2 big handfuls greens
  • 1-2 cups fruit *if using fresh fruit add ½ cup ice
  • 1-2 servings healthy fats
  • 1-2 servings additions (optional)

Preparation

  1. Pick 1 or 2 ingredients from each category, in the quantities indicated.

  2. Blend until smooth.
