Oh cauliflower, how do we love thee? Especially as a steak. Yes, that’s right, replace beef with a thick and hearty cauliflower steak with roasted red pepper relish on top. Each head of cauliflower makes four steaks and one delightful dinner.
Ingredients
- Roasted Red Pepper Relish and Caramelized Onion
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 red onion, finely diced
- 1 Tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 clove garlic, chopped fine
- 1 roasted red pepper, peeled, seeded and finely diced
- ½ tsp fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper
- Cauliflower Steak Ingredients
- 1 large cauliflower
- Olive oil, as needed
- Salt and pepper
- Optional: garlic or onion powder

Roasted Red Pepper Relish with Caramelized Onion
- In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook slowly until caramelized.
- Deglaze pan with white wine vinegar. Add in garlic, roasted red peppers and thyme. Cooking for another 5 minutes or until thick.
- Season with salt and pepper and allow to cool.

Cauliflower Steaks
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Cut cauliflower head in half and then cut each half into 2 ¾ inch steaks.
- Season each steak.
- In a frying pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear each side of cauliflower steaks until golden about 3-4 minutes.
- Transfer each steak to a baking sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until tender.
- Serve roasted red pepper relish with caramelized onion on top.
