Cauliflower Steak with Roasted Red Pepper Relish

Oh cauliflower, how do we love thee? Especially as a steak. Yes, that’s right, replace beef with a thick and hearty cauliflower steak with roasted red pepper relish on top. Each head of cauliflower makes four steaks and one delightful dinner.

Ingredients

  • Roasted Red Pepper Relish and Caramelized Onion
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 red onion, finely diced
  • 1 Tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped fine
  • 1 roasted red pepper, peeled, seeded and finely diced
  • ½ tsp fresh thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cauliflower Steak Ingredients
  • 1 large cauliflower
  • Olive oil, as needed
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional: garlic or onion powder

Preparation

  • Roasted Red Pepper Relish with Caramelized Onion

    1. In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook slowly until caramelized.
    2. Deglaze pan with white wine vinegar. Add in garlic, roasted red peppers and thyme. Cooking for another 5 minutes or until thick.
    3. Season with salt and pepper and allow to cool.
  • Cauliflower Steaks

    1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
    2. Cut cauliflower head in half and then cut each half into 2 ¾ inch steaks.
    3. Season each steak.
    4. In a frying pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear each side of cauliflower steaks until golden about 3-4 minutes.
    5. Transfer each steak to a baking sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until tender.
    6. Serve roasted red pepper relish with caramelized onion on top.
    7. Enjoy!
