Over the last 100 years, western culture has engrained in us that dairy is the best source of dietary calcium. We’re taught about the four food groups in school — and that you get calcium from drinking milk or eating cheese. We’re also told that dairy will help you grown up to be big and strong. The only problem is a lot of us are sensitive to dairy, or just plain don’t agree with the way animals are treated in that part of the food production chain.
