Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Vega Chlorella safe for children?

Consult your pediatrician before giving Vega Chlorella or any dietary supplement or natural health product to your child.

  • Can I take Vega Chlorella if I’m pregnant or nursing?

Consult your doctor, obstetrician or midwife prior to taking Vega Chlorella—or any dietary supplement/natural health product—while you are pregnant or nursing.

  • What is the difference between spirulina and chlorella?

Spirulina and chlorella are biologically different organisms, with different cell shapes, structures, and pigments. While they each have their own nutritional benefits, chlorella is a good source of chlorophyll, iron, protein, and vitamin D, and is the only source of chlorella growth factor (CGF).

  • Why is calcium added to Vega Chlorella?

Tricalcium Phosphate is added to Vega Chlorella tablets as a binding agent. It is not added to Vega Chlorella powder.

  • Why does Vega Chlorella have a cracked cell wall?

For optimal digestion and absorption of nutrients we use a mechanical process that cracks the cell wall of chlorella through pressure without using heat. This high pressure jet spray drying technique creates deep cracks in the cell walls, making the nutrients within available to us, but keeps them contained and intact within the cell walls until they are actually consumed.

  • Grown in Freshwater, Rich Source of Antioxidants

Vega Chlorella is grown outdoors in rich, spring-fed freshwater ponds on pristine, subtropical Japanese coral islands. An antioxidant powerhouse, chlorella has the highest concentration of chlorophyll of any known plant.7Linus Pauling Institute, Oregon State University. • High-pressure Jet-sprayed to Increase Digestibility

Vega Chlorella is processed in state-of-the-art facilities under the strictest of quality standards. Vega Chlorella’s cell walls are high-pressure jet sprayed to increase digestibility. This drying technique creates deep cracks in the cell walls, making the nutrients within available to you, but keeps them contained and intact within the cell walls until consumed.

  • Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF)

CGF is a water-soluble extract—unique to chlorella—containing a variety of substances including amino acids, peptides, vitamins, and nucleic acids. Produced during intense photosynthesis, CGF is believed to be the core of some of chlorella’s health benefits. CGF enables chlorella to multiply four times every 20 hours—making it one of the planet’s fastest-growing organisms.
