Seasonal, Local Food for July

One of the best ways to ensure you’re getting the most nutrient dense food is to eat local foods in season.  On top of being more nutrient dense and tasting better, eating seasonal foods is also cheaper! If you have a local farmer’s market near you I suggest checking it out for the tastiest and least traveled foods. I like to go each week and try to get at least one item that I’ve never had before or never heard of. This is a great way to making shopping and eating even more fun, adventurous and delicious.

For the month of July (depending on where you live) the following foods are in season:


  • Watermelon
  • Strawberries
  • Cantaloupe
  • Blueberries
  • Peaches
  • Apricots
  • Kiwi
  • Raspberries
  • Plums


  • Cucumbers
  • Tomatoes
  • Summer squash
  • Corn
  • Green beans
  • Lettuce

In the summer months my body starts to crave raw foods, and with the delicious list above, I’m happy to oblige! Fresh juices and smoothies are a great way to start the day and incorporate seasonal foods in your diet. This July sip on a Strawberry ‘n Cream Smoothie as you’re laying by the pool or watching fireworks.

Summer time provides some of the best seasonal foods; don’t let these months pass you by! Ask your grocer what’s in season or stop by the farmer’s markets for some local finds.
