Looking for the fountain of youth? Trying to stop father time? You aren’t alone. Consider something a little more tangible, like building a younger looking and feeling body!

Free Radical Damage and Aging

We all know the basics for keeping your skin looking young, like using sunscreen and eating a healthy diet. But why are these things important?

A free radical is a molecule with unpaired electrons. When molecules are unpaired they search for another electron to pair with. In this frenzied mission damaged is caused to surrounding molecules. Free radical damage happens in everyday life from smoking, drug use, pollution, UV exposure, stress and even malnutrition.

On top of causing unwanted wrinkles to our skin, damage can also happen to our DNA, which can lead to the start of mostdegenerative diseases such as atherosclerosis, cancer, inflammatory joint disease, asthma, diabetes, dementia and degenerative eye disease.1

When your body is fighting free radicals it won’t be able to regenerate cells for a younger looking and feeling body.

Anti-Aging Nutrition

It’s no big secret that eating junk food is not ideal for supporting peak health; but did you know that whole plant-based foods are optimal for cellular repair? 2 Antioxidants are essential for maintaining cell structure and fighting free radicals, this includes: vitamins C, E, beta-carotene, and selenium. To get antioxidants in your diet consume darker fruits and vegetables. Berries are antioxidant dynamos—think blueberries, goji berries, cranberries, blackberries, and raspberries.

Other important anti-aging nutrient is essential fatty acids. This includes Omega-3s which fight inflammation related to aging. Add plant-based Omega-3s from flaxseed, chia seeds, and hemp seeds to your smoothie for an essential fatty acid boost.
