Q: “Why on earth did you change your bars? There’s too much sugar.”
A: Constant improvement is a key part of Vega’s mission and values. You told us we could make Vega Bars better, and we agreed! One of the biggest changes with the 2014 recipe of Vega Bars (Vega One Meal Bar, Vega Snack Bar, Vega Sport Energy Bar and Vega Sport Protein Bar) was improving the sweeteners used. It was our goal to use sweeteners that are organic, gluten-free, vegan, minimally-refined, with a low-glycemic index. This is why we chose sugar sources include organic tapioca syrup, organic raw agave and dates. While these sources offer immediate energy to your body, they are paired with plant-based proteins, fiber and healthy fats. By combining these ingredients your body experiences a slower rate of digestion and absorption, providing sustained energy that lasts longer than eating the sugar source on its own.
