5 Ways to Have a Body Positive Summer

Have you ever seen someone strutting their stuff down the beach with so much confidence they would make anyone do a double take? You might have thought to yourself, “I wish I could do that,” then started to tell yourself, maybe if I work out more or eat better, or buy a new bathing suit THEN I’ll be able to feel like that.

Here’s the truth; confidence comes from within. It has more to do with your mental frame of mind than your body frame. If you’re ready to try to see things a little differently and strut in the sand (or grass, or concrete, where ever summer leads you).

HAVE YOUR OWN ANTHEM

Have you ever noticed when your favorite song comes on, you suddenly belt out the words or bust out your signature dance move like no one’s watching? It’s because the music makes you feel good. We already know you look great, but sometimes you just need to feel it. So next time you’re feeling down on your beach bod, turn up the volume and have yourself a dance party.

GIVE YOURSELF A PEP TALK

Say it proud and say it loud. You’re amazing, you’re confident; you’re beautiful, you’re unique. And you’re perfect just the way you are. Enough said.

TREAT YO SELF

You deserve all the self-love you’ve got. When we treat ourselves and our bodies with respect, we feel good. And when we feel good we know we look good too. How do you treat yourself with love and respect? It’s as simple as doing what makes you feel your best. Spend some time thinking about the foods, activities, workouts, etc. you like doing. Get in tune with your body and learn what foods, moves, or activities make you feel like tossing on that swimsuit and sit poolside with your friends.

THE BEACH IS THAT WAY

Summer is a great time to step up your outdoor activity game and get exercise naturally. Don’t get down on yourself for not wanting to hit the gym or skipping your run. Summer is a great time to get outdoors and get in that workout and flex your muscles. You could ride your bike to the beach, swim in an outdoor pool or take a brisk walk around the block. When you exercise your body releases endorphins, which can lead to a positive feeling in the body, and a positive outlook on life….and the beach.

BREATHE

We saved the simplest and quickest for last. Take a few deep breaths and remember you’re awesome.

When all is said it done, it comes down to how you feel and perceive yourself that’s going to get you feeling your best this summer.
