OVERVIEW

An exciting and challenging position exists as the QA Coordinator at Vega’s head office in Burnaby, BC. Reporting to QA Document Control Manager, the Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator will be responsible for the documentation, testing and packaging process for the QA department at Vega. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for product label review, leading and developing finished product specifications, coordinating and documenting change controls, attending core-team meetings and other duties as assigned by the QA Document Control Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop product specifications
  • Working with various departments (eg. procurement, production, food safety etc) to develop specifications
  • Review specifications and ensure sign-off across all departments
  • Work with manufacturing counter-parts to develop specifications
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation change controls, deviations and non-conformance reports
    o Maintain CC, DEV, NCR database
    o Communicate documents with co-manufacturers and partners
    o Help coordinate impact assessment of changes across various department functions
    o Track and provide monthly summary of documentation to team
    o follow up on all outstanding documents for closure
  • Attend core-team meetings for Innovation projects
    o Support innovation launches by attending core-team meetings and reporting status to the QA team
    o Pull appropriate additional QA support into meetings as needed
  • Send samples out for testing as directed by the Food Safety Manager
  • Participate in organoleptic testing on weekly basis
  • Review packaging materials for quality-related content and compliance
  • Write work instructions when needed/as assigned
  • Assist and participate in annual mock recalls
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in QA
  • Familiar with Canadian Food & Drug Acts and Regulation, specifically in Food and Natural Health Products; and FDA regulations for Food and Dietary Supplements
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (HACCP and GFSI standards)
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong Analytical mind-set
  • Experience working with SharePoint an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined individual
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong follow-up, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Goal-oriented with a passion to win
