Overview

An exciting and challenging position exists for a National Sales Manager in Toronto, ON. Reporting to the Director of Sales, Canada the NAM will be responsible for meeting and exceeding company sales targets within the Canadian Natural Business. This position will develop and implement sales strategies, achieve monthly sales targets, manage and mentor both Account Managers and Brokers, and initiate and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and potential customers in the health food and natural grocery channels. For this role, we are seeking those who have strong leadership capabilities, experience in negotiating and forecasting and a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets within the CPG industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 12 sales professionals to meet or exceed company targets and assist them in supporting their retailers through world-class customer service, strategic business planning, teamwork and relationship building
  • Responsible for leading negotiations with key customers
  • Manage and develop key accounts within the territory
  • Establish and manage revenue and trade spend budgets for all Account Managers and Brokers within the territory
  • Initiate and lead regional sales team meetings in order to promote collaboration
  • Routinely execute National Account plans with field sales team at store level
  • Develop and implement sales KPI’s and other sales metrics; provide summaries to management team
  • Maintain direct line of communication and collaboration with Vega internal cross-functional teams—including Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain/Operations

Skills and Qualifications

  • University or College Degree in Business, Marketing, or Nutrition or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of previous experience in a Sales Management role
  • Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience is a strong asset
  • Experience working with a variety of accounts within Natural Channel is a strong asset
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team of employees and brokers
  • Positive track record of building strong sales results and territory management in the Natural Products industry
  • Experience in forecasting and managing a trade spend budget
  • Excellent coaching, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience required, including experience with Nielsen and/or LDIA Portal
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, creativity, and ability to solve problems a must
  • Negotiation and effective presentation skills are critical
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to travel within Canada
