OVERVIEW

An exciting and challenging position exists as an Inventory Analyst at Vega’s head office in Burnaby, BC.  Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, with close collaboration between Finance and the Sales Operations team, the Inventory Analyst is responsible for inventory management support of finished goods, raw material and packaging purchases. This role will work in conjunction with the Demand Planner to develop and manage inventory policies, that incorporate forecast information to maintain adequate inventory levels of cycle and safety stock, and balance service risk and cash flow.

The leadership and direction of the Inventory Analyst will ensure availability of inventory while minimizing risk of short-dating material from ingredients to finished goods. Proficiency at analyzing data, strong S&OP process knowledge and attention to detail is a must for this position.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining a targeted inventory level of raw materials, packaging and finished goods to meet manufacturing demand and on-time delivery to customers
  • Reduce and manage inventory losses due to short-dated products
  • Reconcile and proactively identify root causes on inventory variances and cycle counts
  • Lead operations team in monthly S&OP process cycle
  • Assist in creating policies and guidelines for delivering commercial and cost-effective procurement processes
  • Lead cross-functional teams through the development and implementation of Supply Chain Planning strategies and solutions
  • Work closely with the Production team on balancing MOQs vs sales forecast and potential write-offs
  • Lead and manage inventory efficiency projects
  • Actively engage in innovation and new product launches on balancing speed to market and inventory risks
  • Communicate production forecasts with key manufacturers
  • Review and analyze sales forecast and inventory data to set target safety levels for production planning

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar position
  • BA/BS college degree or its equivalent. MBA preferred
  • Prior work experience in S&OP cycle processes
  • Prior work experience in a Manufacturing environment, in a role managing inventory levels across the Supply Chain
  • Experience working in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry will be considered a strong asset
  • Strong financial modelling skillset and proficiency working in different Forecasting, Database Management, and Enterprise Resource Planning systems
  • Procurement experience is an asset
  • Organized and can prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel and MS Access
  • Competent in Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience with physical and system inventory reconciliations
  • Ability to communicate within cross-functional teams (both verbal and written)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
