An exciting and challenging position exists as a Data Architect at Vega.  Reporting to the Senior Systems Manager, you will be responsible for the modelling, architecture and development of a Data Warehouse and Data Mart.  Day to day, you will work in collaboration  with key business stakeholders at Vega in requirements gathering, data analysis and integration into the existing IT ecosystem.  This role will be in charge of implementing reporting tools on finance, sell-through and trade and the overall technical architecture for the organization.

This position is located at Vega’s HQ in Burnaby, BC. During the exceptional circumstances due to COVID-19, we are currently working virtually while our office remains open for access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, document and create technical designs tailored to business solutions
  • Develop data management standards, technical roadmaps and reporting processes.
  • Review and audit of existing solution, design and system architecture
  • Engage and communicate with multiple stakeholders, across both business and technology functions
  • Develop specifications for reporting standardizations including KPI dashboards for all teams
  • Propose and implement enhancements to current system processes
  • Works with key functional business leaders on cleaning and improving master data
  • Report project status monitoring and communication
  • Tracks and fully documents functional and business specifications.  Write detailed procedures and records for use in training

  • Develop, design, and support interactive Tableau dashboards and analytics


Skills and Qualifications

  • College/University Degree in Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience related to data warehousing and report writing
  • Experience/Acumen with SQL, SQL Server,  SSIS is required
  • Proven experience in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot
  • Strong understanding of Lean and Agile methodologies and techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
  • Understanding of system integrations and best practices
  • Passion for building strong relationships with the ability to work independently and with multiple cross-functional teams
  • Ability to learn applications and processes quickly, while adapting to change in a fast-paced environment
