So Much More Than Salads: Improve Your (Beach) Body Image

By Sarah Wilson, RHN on June 1, 2015 , categorized in Put Yourself First

Healthy doesn’t mean boring bland salads, or mind-numbing workouts you hate. Health is about finding something that gets you super pumped and excited about your overall wellness. I’m a holistic nutritionist that loves taking the ordinary, and making it kick a$$!  It’s time to get creative, step outside the box, and discover your own way to thrive. My mission is to help you find that path.

Have you ever seen someone strutting their stuff down the beach with so much confidence they would even make Beyoncé do a double take? You might have thought to yourself, “Dang I wish I could do that,” then  started to tell yourself, maybe if I work out more or eat better, or buy a new bathing suite THEN I’ll be able to feel like that. Well I’ve got news for you! Confidence comes from within and sometimes it’s all about your mental frame of mind than your body frame. Here are my top five tips for a confident beach body you’ll want to strut in the sand.

Have your own anthem.

Have you ever noticed when your favorite song comes on, you suddenly belt out the words or bust out your signature dance move like no one’s watching? It’s because the music makes you feel good. We already know you look great, but sometimes you just need to feel it. So next time you’re feeling down on your beach bod, turn up the volume and have yourself a dance party.

Give yourself a pep talk.

Say it proud and say it loud. You’re amazing, you’re confident; you’re beautiful you’re unique. And you’re perfect just the way you are. Enough said.

Treat yo self.

You deserve all the self-love you’ve got! When we treat ourselves and our bodies with respect, we feel good. And when we feel good we know we look good too. How do you treat yourself with love and respect? It’s easy, do what makes you feel your best. Do you feel great after drinking a green smoothie? Do it. Do you feel super athletic and in shape after your HIIT class? Do it. Feel your best right after you hit the spa for a facial? Do it. Get in tune with your body and learn what foods, moves, or activities make you feel like tossing on that swimsuit and sit poolside with your friends.

Fake it ‘til you make it.

If you’re not feeling confident on the inside, chances are you’re not looking like it on the outside. When you get to the beach, strike your power pose, run into the water like you’re a Baywatch babe and lay out on your towel like you’re posing for the cover of Vogue. Before you know it, you’ll be feeling unstoppable and you’ll have the confidence of the boss that you are.

The beach is that way.

You say as you flex your muscles.Summer is a great time to step up your outdoor activity game and get exercise naturally. Don’t get down on yourself for not wanting to hit the gym or skipping your run. Summer time is a great time to get outdoors and get in that workout and flex your muscles. You could ride your bike to the beach, swim laps in the outdoor pool or work your muscles out on the nearest picnic table with this workout: No Gym? No Problem! When you exercise your body releases endorphins, which can lead to a positive feeling in the body, and a positive outlook on life….and the beach.

When all is said it done, it comes down to how you feel and perceive yourself that’s going to get you feeling your best this summer.

What’s your favorite confidence booster?
