Did You Know: Vega Sport Protein VS Recovery Accelerator

Brendan Brazier gives us a lot of great information not just on fuelling workouts, but also on general nutrition and leading a healthy lifestyle.   Of course while digesting all of this great information, questions are bound to arise.  In light of Vega fans’ thirst for knowledge, we offer a little hydration with one of our most frequently asked Vega Sport questions.

Vega User’s Frequently Ask: What’s the Difference between the Recovery Accelerator and the Performance Protein? Do I Need Both?

The whole Vega Sport line has been created to use in tandem, but every product is stand alone as well, with the recovery products addressing all aspects of recovery including mental, hormonal, immunity, and soft tissue.  While both are optimal for recovery, each provides a little something unique.  The Recovery Accelerator provides the ideal 4:1 carbohydrate to protein ratio and should be taken within 20-30 minutes after training.  When used during the proper timing window, Recovery Accelerator can help replenish glycogen stores, as well as lower fatigue and soreness and is an ideal training tool after a high intensity session.

The Performance Protein offers 26 grams of plant proteins, with 5,500 branched chain amino acids which play an important role in stimulating protein synthesis and aid in muscle recovery. The proverbial icing on the Performance Protein cake is the addition of SaviSeed, which contains more tryptophan than turkey! Tryptophan is a precursor to the feel good hormone serotonin, which is great news for moods and mental reenergizing.  Performance protein should be consumed within 60 minutes after exercise or after using Recovery Accelerator; or anytime you need a protein boost throughout the day.

The main difference lies in the timing: Recovery Accelerator immediately following a workout, and Performance Protein within 60 minutes.  We don’t advise mixing them together as it will skew the Recovery Accelerator’s 4:1 carb ratio and well, we are little obsessed with optimum sports nutrition.
