Can I add Vega One to my blended shake/smoothie?
Yes. Vega One tastes great on its own just mixed with water or in a blended fruit smoothie. Natural flavor Vega One is excellent if you’re blending it with fruit, as it has a neutral flavor that goes well with just about any smoothie ingredient. Is it possible to take too much Vega One?
Each serving of Vega One provides 50% of the daily value of vitamins and minerals. It is advisable to talk to your health care practitioner if you want to take more than 2 servings of Vega One a day.

Do I have to take the full recommended serving size of Vega One each time?
Vega One is formulated to have a one-scoop complete-serving. However, many people start out with less than a full serving to let their bodies adjust to increased levels of some nutrients, including fiber, and slowly work their way up to a full, one-scoop serving. You should take whatever portion of a serving that works best for your needs, body and activity level.

What benefits does Vega One provide?
The nutrients in Vega One provide the complete daily essentials to help you thrive:

  • Cover your key nutrient bases for optimal health
  • Provide energy to sustain an active life1
  • Help metabolize fats, proteins and carbohydrates2
  • Support normal glucose metabolism3

Is Vega One helpful for weight loss?
In combination with healthy eating and regular exercise, Vega One can contribute to a healthy weight management program. With 123 calories and 11 g of carbs per serving (Natural flavor, prepared with water), Vega One can be an excellent choice for those on a calorie-reduced diet. Vega One is 100% plant-based, contains no trans fats or cholesterol, and because it includes digestive enzymes to facilitate the breakdown of nutrients during digestion, Vega One offers effective nutritional absorption and higher net gain nutrition.

Can I use Vega One as a meal replacement?
Vega One is a dietary supplement that includes 50% of your daily intake of vitamins and minerals, 15 g protein, 6 g fiber, 1.5 g Omega-3, antioxidants, probiotics and greens. The plant-based ingredients that make up the Green and Protein Blend in a serving of Vega One provide the equivalent of 3 servings of vegetables. Depending on the flavor, a serving of Vega One contains between 123 and 141 calories. When mixed with fruit, juice, rice/hemp milk, or blended with your favorite smoothie or healthy shake, Vega One can provide an effective nutrient boost to start your day.

What’s in Vega One?

Why do you use stevia extract in the formula for Vega One?
We have yet to find another no-calorie, natural sweetener that does not add sugars to the nutritional profile and is not a sugar alcohol or chemical derivative. We believe stevia is the best choice in line with the Guiding Principles of Vega. Customers sensitive to stevia can continue to choose Natural and Chocolate for lower stevia content.

Why do you use inulin in the formula for Vega One?
Inulin is an effective prebiotic fibre source that ensures probiotics flourish. Inulin also increases the absorption of calcium and magnesium.

Are the ingredients in Vega One non-GMO?
As always, we work with our suppliers to source ingredients that are not genetically modified. As the non-GMO certification process is still relatively new—and cost prohibitive, especially to smaller scale, cooperative farmers of crops like SaviSeed (Sacha inchi)—very few ingredient suppliers have officially certified non-GMO status. Without the official certification of ingredient suppliers—even if the ingredients they produce are actually non-GMO—we cannot list the non-GMO status of each ingredient on the label. Our long-term goal is to work toward 100% certification so that we can communicate this on-pack.

Are the ingredients in Vega One organic?
To certify all ingredients can be cost prohibitive to some of the smaller famers we work with, however we choose ingredients that are organic, non-GMO and pesticide-free where we can.

How much of Vega One is certified organic?
The only certified organic ingredients in Vega One are maca and the kale in the green blend.

How much of Vega One is raw?
The only ingredients in Vega One that can be considered raw are the green blend, the hemp and the chlorella.

What’s in Vega One that makes it so expensive?
Like the saying goes, “you get what you pay for.” We consider Vega One “valuable” rather than expensive. Vega One was made without compromises using the cleanest, least processed, whole-food-derived ingredients we can find. Ranging from $3 to $3.50 per serving (depending on flavor), Vega One may be one of the more expensive nutritional shakes on the market, but it’s still less expensive than many convenience alternatives—even a designer coffee and muffin costs more than a serving of Vega One. Far better for you—and the planet—than most alternatives, you get 50% of your daily intake of vitamins and minerals, 15 g protein, 6 g fiber, 1.5 g Omega-3, anitoxidants, probiotics, greens, plus 500 mg of chlorella and 1000 mg of maca in every serving of Vega One.

Additionally, if you purchased all of the supplements included in Vega One separately (including a multivitamin and mineral supplement, Omega-3 supplement, antioxidant supplement, probiotic supplement, digestive enzyme supplement, greens supplement, protein supplement and fiber supplement, plus chlorella and maca), you’d probably spend more than you would on the equivalent amounts in Vega One.

Are the probiotics in Vega One dairy-free?
Yes, the probiotics in Vega One are dairy-free. The Probiotic Blend in Vega One includes Lactobacillus acidophilus La-14 and Bifidobacterium bifidum Bb-02.

How do you keep the flax seed in Vega One from going bad?
Our flax seed goes through a proprietary flash pasteurization process that inactivates the enzymes that cause rancidity while preserving the nutrient content.

General Vega One FAQs

How does Vega One taste?
It tastes great! We use only the finest natural flavorings and highest quality stevia for minimal aftertaste and a nice round sweetness. Compared to Vega Whole Food Health Optimizer, Vega One has much improved taste and mouthfeel. With Vega One, you may not get as much flavor as non-plant-based whey protein shakes may offer, but you also won’t get any artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners either. Even our Natural flavor tastes good on its own, as it has a bit of vanilla flavor and stevia also.

Why are there 24 servings in the large tub of Natural flavor of Vega One and only 20 servings in the chocolate and berry flavors?
There are more servings in the Natural flavor because its serving size is smaller than the serving sizes of other flavors, therefore, more servings fit in the tub. You get the same nutritional value as the other flavors, without the volume added by the natural flavorings. The Natural flavor provides the best value as it is the same price as the other flavors but gives you 4 extra servings per container!

Cleansing Symptoms

Notice to First Time Users

As with any positive dietary change, some people may experience temporary, cleansing-type symptoms, including headaches, constipation, diarrhea and nausea when first taking Vega One. To minimize symptoms, start with one-quarter (1/4) of a serving and gradually increase intake over the next few weeks. Be sure to drink plenty of water (at least 8 cups a day) with increased dietary fibre intake.

Possible Cleansing-type Symptoms

Some people are sensitive and may experience some unpleasant cleansing-type symptoms when first consuming Vega One. Duration of symptoms vary but may last less than a week. The following are some of the more common ones:

Bloated stomach and gas:

Your body may be unaccustomed to a higher fiber diet; the bacteria in your normal GI track will produce gas as they ferment the extra fiber. However, your body will learn to adjust and symptoms will decrease.

Diarrhea:

Your body tries to quickly excrete undesirable substances. People with weak digestive systems or those who normally eat few fruits and vegetables and make a sudden change are most susceptible.

Constipation:

Dehydration may lead to constipation. Foods high in fiber must be accompanied by plenty of water. Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. To minimize cleansing-type symptoms, start by taking just a small amount of Vega One, perhaps one-quarter to one-half of the suggested serving size and increase consumption gradually as your body adapts to it.
